Officers were called to the 300 block of Whipple Road just after 8:30 p.m. to reports of a single-vehicle crash, Tewksbury police said. The driver was injured and airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

Police did not release the man's name or his condition on Wednesday.

Following an investigation, officers said the man was involved in a hit-and-run crash before the rollover wreck, Tewksbury police said. He was seen speeding shortly before the incident.

Officers cited him for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, authorities said.

Tewksbury police and Massachusetts State Troopers are investigating the crash.
